Naturally, on wedding day, every bride wants to look her very best and be at her most beautiful, but presenting best face can be a little daunting. So brides, when it comes to bridal portraits and what to wear, you think to yourself, um…duh… wedding dress. But really the most important thing you’ll be wearing is your makeup. Keep in mind, you are dressing for a photo shoot, and while wearing a bridal dress is obvious at a bridal shoot, it’s what you wear on your face that counts most. This is because when we look at pictures, our eye goes strait to the face of the subject in those pictures. Now, we are not saying the dress itself isn’t important, of course it is, along with your shoes, and your jewelry and hair. What we are saying is that you should never underestimate the importance of professional makeup. When you look at girls in pictures who look flawless, it’s not retouching that makes them look so perfect, it’s makeup. Retouching can help, but if relied on too much, it leads to very unnatural results… the dreaded plastify effect. Instead, makeup should be looked at as your airbrush tool of choice!
We have had a lot of brides ask us for advice on how much or what kind of makeup to wear which will last long and be camera friendly. This blog spell out some tips that will help you to get right makeup .
1. We always recommend to our brides to get airbrush makeup. It is lightweight, long-lasting, and flawless. The camera absolutely loves it. It may be a bit more expensive than traditional makeup, but it is well worth it.
2. Second important thing is the use of Primer, using good foundation primer really smooth out the pores for photos and makes the foundation last longer then powder and keeps the shine away which is very important for getting good photos.
3. We suggest to stay away from any foundation that has sunscreen in it. The SPF ingredients can cause major shine & reflection using flash photography. Your foundation shouldn’t have a SPF higher than 15. The particles in sunscreen can flash against the camera and make your face look lighter.
4. If possible avoid mineral makeup; it usually has mica in it which isn’t camera friendly. But if you love it, wear it.
5. Don’t add any glitter. If the glitter particle is too big in the powder, it will flash back at the camera and your face will look like it’s sweating.
Our advice to you, while you are extremely busy choosing your dress, ring, flowers, and even your hairstyle. Hire a professional for your makeup who understands the relationship of makeup with camera and flash lights. Don't let your makeup take a backseat.
